Laura Pee

Multi-Media Artist

Laura Pee is a mixed-media artist based in Leicester. Her work explores nature, symbolism and material through painting, paper works and sculptural forms. Inspired by the natural world, she reflects on the fleeting yet deeply individual nature of our time on Earth. Drawn to a slower pace of making, her practice is often process-led and intuitive, celebrating texture, layering and a quiet attention to detail.

Working across disciplines, her practice includes painting, collage, paper marbling, artist books, tunnel books and the use of found objects. She is particularly drawn to materials that can be transformed - paper that can be cut, marbled, layered and reassembled - allowing each work to evolve through making.

Inspired by her roots and childhood in Norfolk, Laura explores themes of nostalgia, often reflecting on time spent at her Great Nanny Sheila’s house - a place filled with vintage magazines, storytelling and a sense of care and curiosity. It was here that her love of collage began: layers of flowers blooming, fragments of memory collected and reimagined. These early experiences continue to weave through and inform her approach, as she gathers and reworks materials to hold traces of the past - energy, love and lived moments.

From these processes and memories, a quiet sense of metamorphosis unfolds - forms shifting and re-emerging, held somewhere between memory and imagination. Her work carries a gentle sense of wonder in both the vastness of space and the smallness of our place within it, where the familiar becomes slightly surreal, and moments are held between what is known and what is felt.

Laura’s work is material-led. Using marbling, hand-cut paper, collage, layering and mixed media techniques, she builds pieces that evolve slowly through making. Each work is shaped with intention, allowing texture, form and story to guide the final outcome.
